Franklin C-Compiler, Hardware + Software Library

A C compiler kit can be purchased with a PDL-20 terminal. This includes the Franklin C Compiler, a hardware library, and a software library. The hardware library for PDL-20 offers functions to program scanner, keys, beeper, light, time, and other low-level functions. The software library supports a file system created in the PDL's memory to simplify data storage, file data transfer to remote computer, input lines and menus, and more.

Franklin C-Compiler, Hardware Library for Z-1050

A C compiler kit can be purchased with a Z-1050 portable barcode scanner. This includes the Franklin C Compiler and a hardware library which offers functions to program scanner, keys, beeper, time, and other low-level functions. In most cases the portable scanner can be integrated into custom applications without the need of programming the scanner firmware. We ship the Z-1050 scanners with preloaded firmware. It can be integrated by following the protocol specification or by using the OPOS driver API.

OPOS Driver / Development API for Z-1050/Z-1110

This driver enables serial ZEBEX barcode scanners to work with OPOS release 1.4 - 1.6 compliant application. Requirements: Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, or other OLE/ActiveX compliant 32-bit operating system. Please also see FAQ for information about OPOS and driver.

The latest version of the OPOS driver supports portable scanners Z-1110 and Z-1050. If you would like to integrate the portable scanners into your application we recommend trying the OPOS Driver Version 1.8.0. It has an easy-to-use ActiveX component that can be used as programming API for the communication between application and scanner. The installation includes help file that is targeted to get you started quickly and includes example code for Borland Delphi and C++Builder.

The distribution includes:

• A configuration program to generate the OPOS device information.
  (Your application may require the use of a certain device name.)
• The "Service Object" for communication with the scanner.
• Public Scanner 0POS Common Control Object 1.6.001 (OCX component)
  for development of OPOS release 1.6 compliant applications.

Task Generator, Freetask for PDL-20 / Z-2030

This software is included when you purchase a PDL-20/Z-2030 terminal from ZBA, Inc. or from an authorized reseller of ZBA.

The Task Generator for Windows helps you to create and download customized programs ("tasks") to the terminal. If your application is very simple (does not contain loops - just prompts for all fields in each record) you do not need to program a task. In this case you can use the installed "FreeTask". You only need to specify field name and length for each field. You can use the Task Generator software for easy input or you can configure FreeTask directly on the terminal.

The Task Generator for DOS can be used on older computers or in DOS windows on newer systems. We do not recommend the use of this text based user interface on computers with Microsoft Windows operating system. However the DOS Task Generator includes command-line programs for downloading tasks and uploading data. These are useful to be called from application programs to get data from the terminal.
